There are three ways to complete this training.

Face to Face:
This six-hour course covers all the requirements for both modules 10a and 10b and is taught by a first response trainer in a venue across the county.
Blended:
Both blended pathways start by e-learning provided by Hampshire Scouts. The first part is 2.5 hours of e-Learning which can be accessed here: First Response with e-learning (All Counties)
Then you can either:
Pathway 1: Book onto a face-to-face Modules 10A (part 2) plus 10B training session, which is a half day course, on an evening or weekend, with one of our First Response trainers.
OR
Pathway 2: Book onto an online session with one of our first response trainers to complete module 10A, followed by attending a 10B session (on a different day) to complete the practical requirements of the course.
External Courses
If you have completed a first aid course outside Scouts, you will need to provide evidence of your qualification to a First Response trainer.
Please note:
First Response learning can only be credited by:
-
A First Response trainer who has credited modules 29 plus a 16-hour First Aid course and credited First Response in Scouts.
It cannot be validated by:
-
A Volunteer Development Team member
-
A Lead Volunteer
It is likely that an external course may not fully meet the requirements set down by the Scouts (for example First Aid at Work). This is usually because most external courses are aimed at helping adult casualties, not children. The First Response trainer will be able to check this for you and there is also further guidance available on the Scouts website.
If the course does not fully meet the Scouts requirements, you will need to complete a short conversion course and a module 10b.
This enables you to learn about some significant differences around treating child casualties.

Step 1:
Consider which external course have you completed - some common options are:
-
Emergency First Response or emergency first at work (a 6-hour course normally taught in one day)
-
First Aid at Work (a 16-hour course taught over 2-3 days)
-
Children's Only Courses (e.g. paediatric First Aid at Work)
-
RYA Course
Please ask your First Response trainer for advice if you haven’t completed one of the above.
Step 2:
Convert your external course to complete Module 10A:
-
Emergency first response conversion - https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/efawconversion
-
First aid at work conversion - https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/fawconversion
-
Children's only courses - https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/childfirstaidconversion
-
RYA course - https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/RYAconversion
Step 3:
Book on to a 10B course – this is a 15-minute short practical assessment.
Step 4:
Please pass all your certificates, original course and conversion course, to a First Response Trainer who will then be able to credit the first response skill in your ‘My Learning’ Record.
